Opposition Leader Calls For Resignation Of Deputy Prime Minister

Opposition leader Dr Hubert A. Minnis has called for the resignation of Deputy Prime Minister Phillip  ‘Brave’ Davis amid allegations that he misled parliament as to whether or not a contractor had acquired the necessary «contractors all risk insurance» when he signed a contract with government in February.

But in an immediate response, Davis said he would make «a substantive response … at, a more appropriate time», since he was now dealing with funeral preparations for his mother who died over the weekend.

«I am sure he will understand, however, that right now my family and I are in mourning and preoccupied with funeral preparations,» Davis was quoted in the media as saying.

Minnis claimed that Davis had informed parliament on February 21 that at the contract’s signing, the contractor had everything that was required to contract work with his ministry, including contractors’ all-risk insurance».
