Juana Azurduy: Popular School of Training on Gender was opened.
Last Saturday 16th, within the frame of the Cross-Sectional Program of Gender and Diversity Policies and TSC II subject, the Extramural Studies Secretariat, together with Juana Azurduy Cultural Center and Mocha Celis Popular Higher Secondary Education Trans Transvestite School, opened “Juana Azurduy” Popular School of Training on Gender. Over 112 people were present.
This educational initiative has the objective of fostering tools to encourage all interested persons to participate in the creation of societies, communities, neighborhoods and human groups which may be more fair, egalitarian and free from any kind of discrimination and violence. The intention is to co-create a learning device by means of a non-hierarchical and non-academic dialogue, as it is proposed by Feminismos Populares (Popular Feminisms). This is to promote a social and cultural transformation demanded by this time as from its bases.
The activities are developed on Saturdays, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., at Juana Azurduy Cultural Center, located on Victoriano Montes 2020, West Gerly (under the railway station). Each meeting is focused on a specific topic, as follows:
23rd September: gender-related violence
30th September: Comprehensive Sexual Education: Progress, backward movements and challenges.
7th October: Trans Transvestite ideologies and their struggle. Childhood free from discrimination and violence (this meeting will be performed at Mocha Celis Popular Higher Secondary Education Trans Transvestite School). Further information will be available near said date.
21st October: Dissidence and creation of new types of masculineness.
28th October: Non-sexist language and communication (this meeting will be performed at UNDAV – Spain seat). Further information will be available near said date.
4th November: Poverty feminization.
11th November: Women and troublesome consumption.
18th November: Festival
It is important to remark that the following organizations are supporting and contributing to school management: Aquelarre Feminismo Popular; La Dignidad; Mala Junta Avellaneda and Movimiento Popular Travesti.
