Prime Minister Gonsalves describes late Fidel Castro as an extraordinary and towering political figure
Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves says the former Cuban President Fidel Castro was “an extraordinary and towering political figure of immense historical and global significance.”
In a statement on Saturday November 26, 2016, Prime Minister Gonsalves said Mr. Castro “stands alongside the 20th century titans in the struggle for people’s liberation such as V.I, Lenin, Mahatma Ghandi, Mao Tse Tung, Ho Chi Minh, and Nelson Mandela. He was a magnificent son of Our America, Our Latin American and Caribbean civilization.”
Fidel Castro died on Friday November 25, 2016 at the age of 90.
On Monday November 28, Prime Minister Gonsalves, along with his wife Eloise and a Member of his Security detail travelled to Cuba to bid farewell to the Former Cuban President.
Meanwhile, the Cuban Embassy located at Villa has opened a book of condolences for the public to pay their tributes to the late Cuban former President Fidel Castro.
The book of condolences will remain open until Sunday December 4, 2016– the date set for Castro’s funeral.
