The Royal Bahamas Defence Force says it has detained more than 100 Haitian migrants after stopping a vessel west of Ragged Islands
It said the migrants, comprising 117 males, 23 females and 3 children were transported to Coral Harbour Base Monday morning, where they were handed over to Immigration authority for further investigation.
Last week, eight Cubans were detained in a makeshift vessel in the Gulf Stream west of West End, Grand Bahama.
The Defence Force said that so far this year, it has apprehended or assisted in apprehending almost 1,000 migrants trying to enter the Bahamas illegally.
