Haití y Cuba fortalecen sus lazos de cooperación en medioambiente
Haiti – Environment : Cooperation between Cuba and Haiti
Saturday, as part of regular meetings between Cuba and Haiti, Ambassador of Cuba in Haiti, Ricardo Garcia met Dominique Pierre, the Minister of the Environment.
At the meeting, the two men assessed the progress of bilateral cooperation and expressed their interest in working in a coordinated way in some environmental projects.
The Minister Dominique told his interlocutor that his Ministry has five high level professionals, who contribute significantly in the development of programs for protected areas like the Macaya Natural National Parc, and reforestation in different parts of Haiti. He also expressed his interest in working in a more coordinated manner with the countries of the Biological Corridor, in search of ways to achieve a greater impact on the agro-forestry development and training of staff in the managements of protected areas .
The two men also discussed the Tenth International Convention on Environment and Development, to be held in Havana from 6 to 10 July at the Palace of Conventions, with the participation of the Minister Dominique. This event will insist in particular, on the cooperation between countries, the exchange of experiences and sustainable practices, knowledge transfer and full inclusion, so that people are at the heart of environmental concerns.
Recall that the 9 previous editions of this Convention, were attended by over 7,000 participants from 60 countries coming of 5 continents.
