PetroCaribe plant to be renamed after late Venezuelan president

 

To commemorate the 10th Anniversary of the PetroCaribe Agreement, the government will rename the PetroCaribe Dominica Plant, in honor of the late Venezuelan President, Hugo Chavez.

Minister responsible for PetroCaribe, Reginald Austrie who made that announcement on Monday said on June 29, the plant also known as the Waitikubuli Storage Facility will be renamed the Hugo Chavez storage facility.

Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit and the late President signed the PetroCaribe Energy Cooperation Agreement on June 29th, 2005, which provide Dominica with liquid petroleum gas, gasoline and diesel at a discounted rate.

Austrie noted that Chavez’s work, through PetroCaribe, is seen not only in Dominica but throughout the Caribbean and Latin America.
