La OEA realizará el primer foro de las Américas sobre energía y clima
OAS conducts first public forum of Energy and Climate Partnership of the Americas
The Organization of American States (OAS) will be conducting the first public forum of its Energy and Climate Partnership of the Americas.
The Washington-based hemispheric body said the forum, which takes place on Thursday at its headquarters here, will be held under the theme, “Energy and Climate Change Education.
The OAS said through its Department of Sustainable Development (DSD), together with the Energy and Climate Partnership of the Americas (ECPA), the event will focus on “supporting the dialogue on sustainable energy solutions and climate change mitigation.”
“The forum will contribute to strengthening understanding of the clean energy market and identifying new avenues for cooperation in the area,” the statement said.
The event is part of a series of regional forums and technical workshops geared toward fostering energy and climate dialogue in the region, “based on the fact that education and awareness are crucial to the advancement of sustainable energy solutions and climate change mitigation.”
Meanwhile, the OAS said Caribbean diplomats in Washington will be rallying on Friday to support their neighbors impacted by the devastating Christmas Eve storm.
The OAS said St. Vincent & Grenadines, St. Lucia and Dominica are seeking support from “local US friends.”
The rally, at OAS headquarters, comprises ambassadors from St. Vincent & Grenadines, St. Lucia, Belize, Grenada, Guyana, Haiti, Jamaica, and St. Kitts & Nevis, as well as OAS Assistant Secretary General Albert Ramdin.
“In the wake of a devastating Christmas storm that took lives, destroyed property and significant devastation in Caribbean communities, Caribbean Ambassadors are calling for support to assist families left homeless,” the statement said.
“Our goal is to bring a higher level of attention and awareness to this crisis that has gone largely unreported,” it added.
